Terry and Karin Braxton
Terry and Karin Braxton fell in love with the beautiful Madison Valley in 1990, when they started visiting from their home in Farmington, Missouri where they owned a manufacturing company and a cattle ranch and raised their three children, Sara, Andrew and Jon. In 1993, they purchased the Cedar Creek Ranch just south of the Jumping Horse. After selling that, they bought a larger ranch in Wyoming, but longing for the Madison Valley, they moved back and bought the Jumping Horse Ranch in 1999.
Over the years, the Braxtons have made numerous improvements to the Jumping Horse Ranch, restoring many of the buildings, adding on to the main house, building a shop, a mountain cabin and new corrals and refining the landscape. With the help of ranch general manager Jeff Klein, the Braxtons established a commercial herd of Angus cattle and purchased more land south of the ranch. Today the Jumping Horse Ranch serves as both a working ranch and a hunter’s paradise, nestled in the Madison valley.
Ranch General Manager & Outfitter
Jeff grew up in Missouri, living and working on row crop and cattle farms, and has been working with the Braxtons since 1987. His love of the outdoors began at a young age with his father, family and friends hunting wild turkeys, whitetail deer, pheasants, quail and squirrels in the Midwest.
After graduating from the University of Missouri with a degree in Agriculture, Jeff and his wife Betty moved west to work on a cattle ranch, and it didn’t take them long to fall in love with the open space and mountains, eventually calling Montana home. Jeff worked as a big game guide on the Cedar Creek ranch in 1997 and took over as the manager of the Jumping Horse Ranch when the Braxtons purchased it in 1999. After guiding for a few years on the Ranch, Jeff secured his outfitting license in 2002. Since that time he has strived to improve the quality of hunting at the Jumping Horse and enjoys sharing his in depth knowledge of the wildlife and their patterns with his clients.
